What is the Committee doing?
The Safety & Health Committee is hosting a Webinar to introduce to all SWRInstitute Members, as well as our Alliance Members, the Safety Products that we have developed. In the last decade we have produced a variety of products for the Association, most of which were produced in conjunction with our Alliance with OSHA. Safety Products produced are recognized as OSHA Alliance products that give OSHA'S stamp of approval on the work we have done.
What is the Goal of the Webinar?
We realize that the majority of people who can benefit from our products may not be familiar with them and these products can help keep people safe. That’s why it is so important that we introduce all of our Safety & Health products to those unfamiliar with them. The Webinar gives us a great Opportunity to reach out to a broad audience, to show off our accomplishments and keep people safe. It also gives us a chance to show how to use some of the individual items that may take a little getting used to.
Why a webinar?
It gives us the opportunity to provide a hands-on approach to the use of the Safety & Health products. Several products are interactive and allow the user to enter their Company Information. For example Doug DeSilvio will be presenting the Safety & Health Manual which gives you the outline to develop a written Safety and Health program. By filling in the information into the document you provide you are on the way to developing a Written Safety Plan as Recommended by OSHA.
Doug will also review the Site Specific Safety Plan. This is a Comprehensive document where you can fill in the forms and checklists with Pre Task Assessment of the work to be done. A step-by-step approach to the project at hand allows your employees to foresee any Safety Hazards and to know how to deal with them.
What other products will you be showing?
Besides the Safety & Health Manual and the Site Specific Safety Plan there are several other products that we have produced. Ron Pilla will discuss the Safety & Health Field Manual. Dan Bagley will review OSHA Alliance Toolbox talks that have been produced and a review of some of the topics we are working on currently. I will be reviewing our Fall Protection PowerPoint that was produced to inform employees how to recognize potential Fall Hazards and how to minimize and prevent these Hazards. Dan Cain will then discuss our Alliance with OSHA and its benefits such as the OSHA Onsite Consultation Program where you invite OSHA for an analysis of your Safety Program. OSHA will review and make recommendations on what is good or not so good and how to improve your Safety Program. While taking advantage of the Onsite Consultation Program you have the advantage of OSHA inspecting your operation with no repercussions unless you do not take the advice given.
Anything else?
For those who sign up for the Webinar we will be sending copies of The Safety & Health Field Manual as well as OSHA quick cards that may be helpful. At the end we will offer a question and answer period.
We hope that we can help our members with their Safety needs. As a member of the Safety Committee for the last 5 years or so, I am proud of the products we have produced and hope that they have helped make the workplace safer for those who need it.
Thank you,
Dave Grady
