Networking
Perhaps one of the best benefits of being a SWR Institute member is networking. Our membership is comprised of owners and senior management of contracting firms, national sales managers and senior technical representatives of major manufacturers plus nationally recognized designers and consultants who specialize in the sealant, waterproofing and restoration industry. Not only does SWR Institute offer the opportunity to discuss the problems and challenges that you face daily in our industry with fellow professionals it can help you gain new insights into a changing industry.
Meetings
SWR Institute has two meetings each year, the Annual Meeting in the Spring and our major technical meeting in the Fall. They are always held in interesting locations with well designed and informative programs. Our speakers and presenters read like a who’s who of our industry. One of the most interesting and helpful segments of every SWR Institute meeting is our Technical Clearinghouse. This is where job problems or questions are presented to the group for answers and solution. They are always lively and helpful! Additionally, our meetings discuss general business, regulatory and legal issues that impact on all of our members. But our meetings are not all work; we always build in considerable time for interaction with fellow SWR Institute members at formal receptions, golf and tennis tournaments and other fun events.
Involvement
SWR Institute is a very active organization. Our committees, made up of contractors, manufacturers and consultants, have developed several technical manuals, two books and a two-day seminar video on sealants. We have also developed a validation program designed to award the SWR Institute Validation Seal to those sealant products that pass certain laboratory tests. Our intent is to verify results provided by the manufacturers on their products.
SWR Institute has many active committees dealing with a wide range of issues reflective of the diversity of our group. This level of involvement has paid off as more building owners, architects and specifiers are calling on SWR Institute for answers to their questions and asking who the qualified contractors are in their area.
