Cost: $200 per attendee.
The Program: The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC); and Sealant, Waterproofing & Restoration Institute (SWR Institute) are pleased to provide this guide to assist the architectural community in understanding the basics of designing and specifying joint sealants in building construction applications. This general guide is brief in nature and is intended to provide an overview for the reader of significant joint design issues.
This 90-minute presentation provides a basic understanding of the various types of sealants and how they are utilized in a variety of commercial and residential applications. Mr. Kimball will discuss what to look for in selecting a sealant type for a specific application, performance characteristics, as well as the general guidelines for joint design on which the sealants are used. Specific information will also be included on surface preparation, application procedures and the use of backing materials. Finally, there will be discussion on common application problems.
Program highlights include:
· Sealant definitions, applications chemistries and types
· Sealant joint design considerations
· Important steps in successful sealant installation
· Troubleshooting common problems with potential solutions
For more in-depth information on sealant joint design and installation, refer to “Sealants: The Professional's Guide”, by SWR Institute, and ASTM Guides C1193 and C1472. SWR Institute also offers a training program entitled “Applying Liquid Sealants” and other related publications.
